Types of Housing
Beechwood Co-operative Homes comsists of 78 units. The units include 28 two-bedroom units, 46 three-bedroom units, and 4 four-bedroom units. Four of these units that are wheelchair accessible, one is designed for the visually impaired, two are retrofitted for the hearing impaired, and two units are geared towards seniors.
Housing Charges
Of the 78 units, 61 are reserved for geared-to-income (subsidized) households, while 17 are reserved for households who pay the market price. Market Housing Charges are as follows:
2 bedroom townhouses = $842 per month
3 bedroom townhouses = $908 per month
4 bedroom townhouses = $967 per month
These amounts include water charges, which are paid by the co-op on behalf of all members. The hydro, gas, water heater rental, cable TV, internet, and telephone charges are not included (it is members' responsibility to pay those charges).
If subsidized housing is needed, an application must first be completed with the Region of Waterloo (which operates a centralized waiting list for geared-to-income housing) before an application can be completed with Beechwood Co-operative Homes directly. An application for a market-priced unit can be completed at the Beechwood Co-op office. Applications can also be mailed, emailed, or faxed to you.
Townhouse features
All townhouses include a stove and refrigerator, forced air gas heating and gas hot water, carpeting and/or laminate flooring, laundry hook-ups, privacy fencing in rear yards, and reserved parking in an adjoining garage and driveway.
There is also ample visitors' parking, a newly-installed playground (parts of which are wheelchair accessible), on-site coin-laundry facility, computer room, and an events room.
